The University of Maribor to Overhaul it Dormitory

The University of Maribor will overhaul the Dormitory No. 7 (Gosposvetska Street, Maribor). The Makro 5 Gradnje Company has already signed an independent contractor agreement with the University of Maribor.

A comprehensive repair of a worn out building will be carried out as part of the investment project valued at 3,279,449 euros and 91 cents. The facility will be renovated taking into account modern standards for the construction of dormitories and other student accommodations.

The renovated building will open its doors for students at the beginning of the summer semester of the 2017/2018 academic year.

Dormitory No. 7 was built in 1984. It is designed for 454 beds and is the largest residential facility among the dormitories of the University of Maribor. A soon as the repair and restoration works are finished, 255 students will live in 127 single rooms and 64 double rooms. The renovated dormitory will provide students with all conditions for studying and full-fledged rest. The total area of ​​the building after renovation will be 5,186 sq. m.

Funds for the works are allocated from several sources:

  1. from the budgetary fund to pay back a loan to the University of Maribor;
  2. from the complex budget to cover part of the eligible and ineligible investment expenses;
  3. from the European funds to cover the cost of energy rehabilitation of the dormitory building based on the Decision on Financial Support.

The dormitories of the University of Maribor are located in five microdistricts of the city (not far from the teaching blocks and the historic centre of Maribor). Their total capacity is 2,867 beds.
