The University of Nova Gorica Holds the 11th Student Wine Festival

The Graduate School of Viticulture and Oenology of the University of Nova Gorica organized the 11th Student Wine Festival in the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava on Friday, 25 May 2018. In addition to the hosts, the Festival was attended by students of the Agronomy and Food study programme of the Ljubljana University Biotechnology Faculty and students of the Viticulture, Winemaking and Horticulture study programme of the University of Požega (Croatia).

The visitors of this festival had an opportunity to taste white wines of different brands. Young specialists in viticulture and winemaking presented to the teachers, friends and all visitors the wines from local cellars produced by the students themselves, as well as the wines produced by famous manufacturers. Visitors could also taste wines produced by the University of Nova Gorica, and namely such brands as Univerzitetno Rdeče, Univerzitetni Zelen and Rektorjev Izbor. In addition to the tasting programme, the attendees were offered information on the promotion and marketing of wines, which is necessary today for successful activities in the market.

Visitors of the event had to work hard to determine the best participant who demonstrated the knowledge and skills of wine presentation more convincingly than others did. As a result, three winners of the festival were identified:

1st place: David Mlakar with Mlakar wine (Biotechnology Faculty of the University of Ljubljana).

2nd place: Margareta Lavrenčič with Benčina Wine (the Graduate School of Viticulture and Oenology, University of Nova Gorica).

3r place: Snežana Prijić with Veleučilišta Požega wine (University of Požega, Croatia).
