Thirteenth Festival of Slovenian Jazz

The event will be held from 2 to 7 October and will be dedicated to the 80th birth anniversary of the famous jazzman Jože Privšek. A musical creative workshop will start working on the first day of the festival. Students of the Koroški Jeklarji School will write music for the animation film ‘Podobe Mesta’, which will be first run on 3 October in the Dr. Franc SušnikCentral Carinthian Library.

In addition to creative workshops, the festival will involve a round table Viva Jazz Forma devoted to the relationship between music and sculpture.

The event will also feature young musicians Kombo, La Correria—a new project of a young Slovenian trumpeter and composer Timotej Kotnik. Organizers announce concerts of the Bee Geesus, Artbeaters and BlueVelvet & Zdenka Kovačiček bands.

The Moments with Jože Privšek project will be dedicated to the vocal jazz heritage of the composer. During the musical evening, his hits and instrumental compositions will also be performed. Nina Strnad and Big Band RTV Slovenija (with saxophonist Lenart Krečič as a conductor) will perform.

On the eve of the festival, an exhibition dedicated to 12 previous festivals of Slovenian jazz opened in the Oton Župančič Library in Ljubljana.
