Three-day Seminar “Learning Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) through Business Simulation Game”

At the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Maribor, Dr. Paul Wu Horng Jyh, a professor from the SIM University (Singapore), holds a three-day seminar “Learning Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) through Business Simulation Game”.

The three-day seminar “Learning Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) through business Simulation game” is held as part of the “Integrated IT solutions» (“Celovite informacijske rešitve” in Slovenian) subject of the Master’s study program “Information and Communication Technologies” (“Informatika in tehnologije komuniciranja”, ITK in Slovenian) of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics.

It is held by Dr. Paul Wu Horng Jyh, a professor of the SIM University (Singapore), the head of the “Information and Communication Technologies in the School of Science and Technology” program.

During the seminar, participants are introduced to the organization and functionality of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) by means of business model simulators. Student then supplement the theoretical knowledge gained during the lectures with practical experience and test it using the enterprise resource planning system — SAP ERP. Through the teamwork and business simulation game, the participants of the seminar administer the core business processes related to resource management, procurements, planning, sales and marketing, and thus manage their enterprise. At the same time, participating teams compete for a dominant market share and maximum profit for their enterprise.

A visit of the foreign professor is organized as part of the project called “Inclusion of Foreign Scientists and Teachers of Higher Educational Institutions into the Teaching Process as a Basis for the Quality Development of the Internationalization Process in the University of Maribor.”
