Tim Mastnak Becomes the Snowboard World Vice-Champion
The Slovene Tim Mastnak became the snowboard world vice-champion (in parallel giant slalom category). The competition took place in Park City (USA). In its finals, the 28-year-old native of Celje lost the championship title to the 19-year-old Russian Dmitry Loginov. The bronze medal was won by the German Stefan Baumeister.
The former world junior champion Tim Mastnak showed the second result already in the qualifying round. In the ⅛ finals, he defeated the Austrian Elias Huber; in the ¼ finals – his compatriot Lukas Matias, and in the semi-finals – the German Stefan Baumeister.
It should be noted that this Tim Mastnak’s award was the 12th medal of the world championships won by the Slovenian snowboarders and the 10th – in the mountain disciplines.
