Tina Trstenjak Takes Bronze at the World Championships in Judo
28-year-old native of Celje Tina Trstenjak won a bronze medal of the World Judo Championships in the category of up to 63 kilograms. The competition was held in Baku (Azerbaijan).
On her way to the medal, Tina Trstenjak defeated Briton Amy Livesey, Spanish Isabel Puche and Austrian Kathrin Unterwuzacher. In the semi-finals, the Slovene athlete, the Olympic champion in her weight category, lost to Japanese Miku Tashiro (vasari). In a duel for the third place, Tina Trstenjak defeated the American champion Cuban Maylin del Toro Carvajal having successfully performed vasari in the attack, and then ippon.
This is already the fourth award of the world championships for the Slovenian judoka. In 2015, she won gold in Astana; in 2017 – silver in Budapest; and in 2014, bronze in Chelyabinsk.
