Trains between Ljubljana and Trieste to Run Twice a Day
Direct railway communication between cities will be resumed in June 2018.
Last week, the Italian company Trenitalia organized a test route for the Trieste-Ljubljana passenger train. It is planned that in June 2018 direct trains between the two cities will run twice a day.
The Slovenske železnice Company states that on the Slovenian section of the railway everything is ready to launch the new international route. Currently, a response is expected from Debora Serracchiani, the head of the near-border Italian region Friuli – Julian March (Slovene: Julijska krajina).
Passenger trains between Slovenia and Italy stopped running in 2011.
