World Championship in Spaghetti Bridge Building among Students (3–5 May 2017)

How Strong Is The Bridge?! is an international contest for building the strongest spaghetti bridge, which brings together the best students of the Slovenian and other European universities. In previous years, the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Maribor hosted students from Austria, Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Turkey, Italy, Romania, and Slovenia.

Participants build a bridge according to special rules. They use spaghetti glued together as a building material for plastic panels. The contest is held in two categories: Performance and Design. The theatrical culmination of the contest will be the open demolition of bridges, which will be held in the Hall named after B. Pečenko—the largest classroom of the Faculty. The first prize belongs to the bridge decayed at maximum load. A team of reputable designers and faculty members will monitor the contest.
